First and foremost I would like to thank everybody for visiting the new version of my website. Please take the time to read through some of the content, as I am certain that it will inspire you with affirmations and quotations for the day. Through my blog I am aiming to reach out to you and to be in a dialogue with you a my audience and of course also to hear back from you. If you have quotes or a story that you believe could be inspiring for other readers then please send them to me at [email protected]. This is my very first blog on this new version of my website and I would like to start of with the quote from Victor Frankl who had survived four (4) concentration camps under the Nazi regime in the second world war “When we are no longer able to change the situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”. Do you personally know the feeling of wishing to change a situation, to turn back time but you realise that you are stuck and are running against a brick wall? When you feel that you cannot change the situation try to ignore the negative aspect of this complexity and focus on yourself. Sometimes we are unable to change the situations surrounding us but most of the times we are able to change ourselves by changing our perspective, taking a step back and reassessing the situation and making immediate self created solutions. We are able to change ourselves, which ultimately means that we are able to change and adapt in a way that fits us uniquely. We do possess the power. The question is what do you focus on? Are you aware what you actually focus on? Sometimes when I have a client who is one of those situations I take my client to one side of the room and ask them to focus and tunnel their situation onto that side of the wall. I then ask them to turn around and shift their focus onto the other side of the room. This has an immediate impact as you can see and feel where you want to be. The shift is already perceivable simply by changing the focus. Instead of keep being stuck in an unchangeable and overwhelming situation remove the focus on that cause and look for the source. Sometimes by being too focused on finding a solution to a problem we are unable to see the solution right in front of us. It is often the most simple solutions that we think are the most difficult to perceive. In this example by focusing on changing yourself you will connect deeper with yourself, asking yourself what you need and if you are willing to change yourself the situation gets bearable and the blockage is lifted as you are starting to look at things from a different angle. I hope that you are able to take something from this blog entry and wish you all a wonderful day. If you feel that Victor Frankl’s quote applies to you today then write it down big on a piece of paper so you can read it over and over again, feeling when it is time for you to change yourself when the situation is not changeable.
