Animals within our sessions

If you’re an animal lover you’ll already know how animals can pick up on the emotions of those around them. My own pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) often freely volunteer their services during counselling sessions – of course it is entirely up to you whether you take up the offer. Jokes aside animals are highly sensitive and instinctively know when you need a cuddle, a nudge or a game of ‘fetch’ – they’re great stress relievers and a wonderful source of comfort to my clients. I often take my cues from these encounters and listen for any themes, or ‘pearls,’ that pop to the surface, embracing them in our sessions.

In fact I consider Joya, Buddy and Soraya to be an important and enriching complement to Gestalt Counselling – my co-counsellors so to speak.
