Philosophy Of Mindfulness
In our collaborative work, my role is to provide support, share knowledge, and offer the necessary tools to facilitate your journey through the therapeutic process as gently and empathetically as possible. The central focus is always on you. You are the one who sets the pace of our journey together. It's important that you feel empowered to take steps that are right and authentic for you at any given moment.
The core of our work together is grounded in the philosophy of mindfulness. This concept is all about "being aware" – it involves paying attention to and being fully present in the moment, as well as cultivating self-awareness. Mindfulness is not just a practice, but a holistic attitude that encompasses your whole being, your life story, and your 'incomplete gestalts' – the unresolved aspects of your life that we explore in Gestalt Therapy (for more details, please visit the Gestalt Therapy page).
A crucial element in our sessions is the connection between 'I' and 'thou/you'. In my counselling practice, we engage as two individuals of equal standing. This means that as your counsellor, I not only guide and support you but also share parts of myself. My life, much like yours, has been shaped by a mix of challenges and triumphs. This approach deviates from the traditional, detached 'blank-canvas' method. Instead, I offer a more relational experience, sharing relevant personal insights, images, or experiences that resonate with our sessions.
The goal of integrating mindfulness into our sessions is to help bring closure to your incomplete gestalts, thereby enriching your self-awareness. Through this process, we aim to create a space where you can explore, understand, and integrate various aspects of your life, leading to a more balanced and fulfilled existence.

"Life was a misery for me at the age of 14-17. I often felt that everything I did in this world was wrong… My life had to be perfect and if it wasn’t I would of thrown tantrums… I felt at one stage that my life was meaningless and I was an absolute failure… Christina provided understanding and progressively gave me the means to my own empowerment, to make a change in my own life. Thank you Christina"
